Oy vay!

Probably the best resource on the net for geeks like me: http://www.urbandictionary.com

I found this today:

"1. oy vay

1 used when frustrated
2 Used when anoyed by other people fighting or arguing and it becomes a big mess
3 used when you dont want to do something like wake up in the morning becuase you think its too early

1 OY VAY!!!!
2 oy vay ... this isnt working
3 Oy vay its only 6:00. or oy vay i have so much to do today."

I love how these (aka the entries) are made up by random people. But as we all know, the term "oy vey" or "oy vay" is most definitely Yiddish.

Okay, so maybe I've been hanging around Jews too much lately. HEY, what can I say?!? My boyfriend's Jewish.

Studio Yiddish - How it differs from normal Yiddish, I dunno. I just found it.

Wow. I just focused an entire post on one phrase. Man, I'm messed up.

QUESTION: Okay, so this is the QUESTION of the WEEK. Whoever gets it will receive a (non existant) dollar and my undying love. We're sticking to the Jewish section here...

What is in a Hillel Sandwich?

Yeah, if you can answer that, I will be impressed, lol.

"Too much shmaltz ....pick up the tempo!"

This is my favorite phrase on the Studio Yiddish site:
FECOCKTEH: [feh-cock-teh] screwed up.

I don't say fecockteh nearly enough.

Hillel, a rabbi who lived during the first century of the Common Era, invented the sandwich. This sandwich is his foundation of the Seder, a concentrated version of the three symbols Rabban Gamliel stressed according to the biblical command: "Together with unleavened bread and bitter herbs they shall eat the paschal lamb (the last replaced by the Charoset)."

no, i have absolutly no idea what all that means, nor do i care to.

A Lesson That Needed Re-Learned

Okay. So The Queen learned a very valuable lesson yesterday. You DON'T TALK TO STRANGERS. Obviously, everyone learns this lesson from the age of 5, when your father asks you, "What do you do if some strange man asks you to help him find his lost puppy?" And then, you so enthusiastically respond, "You kick him in his privates and say NOOOOOOOOOO!!" Well, at least that's how I learned. And so when a young woman (couldn't be any older than my older sister) came to my door yesterday and asked questions about when my mother would be home, questions about the other kids in the neighborhood...I did the completely WRONG thing to do. I answered her questions and thought nothing of it. I didn't think her out-of-state license plates were all that threatening. I didn't think that her black (with polka dots) galoshes (similar to these ) were all that threatening. I figured she was just another one of those annoying Youth For Christ advocates asking if I w...

Not the way I say it. Say it with me, LetItGo.

Do yourself a favor. Don't get involved with guys that have girlfriends. A short, messy history, fast forwarded to now... I work with this guy who likes me a lot. I like him a lot. Seems innocent enough, right? Well of course, he has a girlfriend. I say we can be friends, but I cross lines and break rules. He crosses lines and breaks rules. I'm a dirty mistress. I'm trying to end it, now, before anyone else (besides myself) gets hurt (mainly his girlfriend) but he won't... fucking ...LetItGo!
