My 3½ minutes in the spotlight was when my coach decided that we were losing bad enough (We lost 17-10 or something like that) that it wouldn't do any harm to put the Junior Varsity Princess (aka moi, if you're that thick) into the game. The batter's box, to be precise. I guess I wasn't good enough to defend the field. :( Whatever.
So, I must've been a lot more nervous than I thought I was, because everyone kept telling me to relax. I didn't feel nervous, but when I struck out (I went down swingin', ya bastards!) and returned to the dugout, I realized that my hands were shaking.
Well, here are the pictures...I packed a bag lunch today, which is pretty weird for me. Turkey sandwich, Gushers, chips, cheese stick, cookies, and juice. It seemed enough, and it was. I couldn't finish it all! Well...I did later at the softball game.
I forgot to mention that when I went to the store with my mother the other day, suspisciously enough, the grocery store (it was a discount one, without your run-of-the-mill foods, but WITH some of the most offbeat books I've ever seen) had a literary section! And can you believe they were only 50¢?!? Poor authors, they must feel so disgruntled. I bought six of them, costing me a total of $3. I would have spent over $75 on all of these at a place like Borders or Barnes & Noble. Here are the titles:
- About the Author, by John Colapinto
- Killing Paparazzi, by Robert M. Eversz
- Lie in the Dark, by Dan Fesperman
- Looking for Alaska, by John Green (Did I mention I LOVE this book??)
- Radio Activity, by Bill Fitzhugh
- Spin Sisters, by Myrna Blyth
Here is their lovely group picture...
I still couldn't believe the awesome deal I got on them. I feel bad for John Green though, because I've read his book 3 times and constantly check it out at the library, but when I finally find it and buy it, his revenue is only about...50¢. But then again, he did win the Printz Award, and I suspect there's some sort of cash reward with that...I mean, there HAS to be.
Any suggestions for BIG, awesome, not stupid stickers? I'd like to know...I'm not going to stick any juvenile "Boys are stupid, Throw rocks at them" stickers on my oh-so important reporter's pad.
Well, I'm off to go watch The Black Donnellys.

The books you bought look great. I'm especially intrigued by Killing Paparazzi--probably because I just love the word "paparazzi" so much.
ps-Sorry you struck out during softball. That sounds tiring.
pps-Do you like The Black Donnellys? I haven't seen it.
